Intelligent, spectacular, absolutely perfect short description of the effects on the ease of creating digital media, and how we're supposed to sort it out.

Never too good enough for...
Nice to see reminders that no matter who you are, you're never too good to do the basics, like cleaning up after yourself, and helping make a room, area, situation, or venue as good (or better) than you found it... such as returning a chair to the room where you got it.
Yes, that's who it looks like.
Yes, that's what he's doing, and
Yes, that's the room you think it is.

Correcting the record about Michael Moore
I've been working to correct Michael Moore's Wikipedia page, which is chock-full of errors. It is really sad when even the NY Times - which is used as a reference - doesn't have their facts straight.
Here's the so-called fact I'm trying to correct: "Michael Moore was born in Davison."
Not true.
Incorrect.
He was raised in Davison, (my family seems to have some sort of attraction to this place. My brother and his family have lived there for almost 15 years, and my Grandparents live there as well. It's nice and all, but I can see why Moore left).
Michael F. Moore was born in Flint. And what's up with all these Davison people trying to own him? I know you guys love him and all, but hey, let Flint have a little of the credit.
Here are the facts:
1. There were no hospitals in Davison in 1954.
That should be enough, unless you think people are still born in barns. Do I need to continue? Oh, OK.
2. Moore's parents - Catholics - had their son delivered at the local Catholic hospital, St. Joseph, which is in downtown Flint (it's been torn down like much of Flint).
3. But let's ask someone who was there: Michael Moore himself. Yes, he actually mentions he was born at St. Joe's in Flint in his documentary Pets or Meat: The Return to Flint. I have a copy of the film, which has never been released, so you'll just have to take my word for it, or come over and watch it. It's fantastic.
I don't have free time to keep up with this stuff, and it's silly and pointless to try and correct all the wrong information about Moore. But as he himself has stated, sometimes it's worth getting the basics right.

Moore on Wall Street
there. One Wall Street guy did stop to talk to him for quite a while!
Everyone wants to have their picture taken with Mike. I dunno how he gets anything done! But people were respectful when he actually started to interview people.
I told someone I was from Flint and they wanted to have their picture taken with ME. I declined. There's already too many famous people from Flint.

When's the last time you saw this on a talk show?
James Brown, showing them why he's #1. I've never seen a Letterman crowd go that crazy.

Copying Yogisms
I came up with a few of my own Yogisms:
"Brooklyn: A great place to live but I wouldn't want to visit there."
"A late train is always on time."
"Someone asked if I could keep a secret. I said 'Sure, as long as I can tell someone.'"
"I asked an MTA booth worker 'What is fair?'"
They said "$2."
I said "I'm thinking its more like $1.25."
"Someone sent me an email forward. I sent it back."
"The Great Lakes are pretty good."
"New York just isn't anymore."
"I can't get that song into my head."
"I never recycle bottles. I just use the same one over and over."
After re-reading these I think they're more like Rodney Dangerfield one liners...

What A Wonderful World
Happy New Year! Recorded on my iPhone, here is a lounge singer at 11th Street Bar in the East Village singing "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong.
An amazing, soulful rendition.
Enjoy, and all the best in 2009.
